A week after the successful Spelling Bee, we held our first math quiz. Here, too, the children had to win a qualification and the best 6 made it to the final. Unlike the Spelling Bee, this time there were no eliminations but points for each correct answer. So every child had the chance to shine in 20 rounds. Each student was given a blackboard and chalk to write down the answers. Calculations could only be done in your head; no written calculations were allowed. The four basic arithmetic operations and factual tasks as well as fractions and decimal fractions were asked for in the higher classes. Heads were spinning and calculations were done quickly, as there was only 20 seconds for each task. The spectators were also encouraged to do the math and test themselves. It was a wonderful, exciting day with a lot of fun, very close competitions and deserved winners at the end.
The winners:
Class 1 - Penelope
Class 2 - Yochanan
Class 3 - Rafael
Class 4 - Henock
Class 5 - Nancy
Class 6 - Eddy
Class 7 - Royce
